TEHRAN, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Three members of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) were killed in an attack in southeastern Iran near the Pakistani border on Tuesday, the Press TV reported.
Two IRGC vehicles came under attack by another car in the Nikshahr County of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province on Tuesday afternoon, the IRGC was quoted as saying in a statement.
In the attack, three IRGC members were killed and another was wounded. Two of the assailants were killed in the ensuing clashes, it added.
The assailants had not been identified so far, the report said.
Iran's southeastern region has been often the scene of bloody clashes between Iranian forces and separatist groups or drug smugglers over the past years.
