DAMMAM, Saudi Arabia - A baby boy kidnapped from hospital 3 hours after he was born more than twenty years ago has been reunited with his family.

The kidnapping took place at the Maternity and Children's Hospital in Dammam, the capital of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, twenty-four years ago.

According to a report by Tamara Abueish for Al Arabiya, the now 24-year old was reunited with his family on Tuesday.

Saudi Arabian police solved the case after they became suspicious of the woman who snatched the boy from the materinty ward of the hospital. A DNA test was ordered and the results revealed the youngster was the baby kidnapped more than two decades ago.

Moussa al-Khanezi was one of two babies abducted from the hospital by the same woman in the late 1990s. The other abduction was in 1999.

The woman raised the boys as her own, and reportedly told the children that they were born out of wedlock.

Police were baffled by the abductions and were unable to advance the cases into them until the woman tried to obtain identification cards for the boys. It was then that police ordered DNA tests.

Moussa's natural mother inadvertently gave a woman permission to take her newly-born son for a bath in 1996, his brother, Mohammed al-Khanezi, told Al Arabiya on Tuesday.

Mohammed said his family never gave up looking for his brother, with his father offering several rewards for information.

The woman, who is now in her 50s, told police she found the babies and assumed they had been abandoned, She then decided to raise them as her own children.

She is currently in custody while police continue their investigation.
