Hyderabad/Guwahati (Telangana/Assam) [India], Aug 15 (ANI): While Raksha Bandhan lasts for only a day, people leave no stone unturned in living the day to its fullest. Be it sweets or Rakhis, markets are flooded with both. This time its different varieties of Rakhis ranging from Doraemon, Spider-Man, to Bheem-styled taking over the markets!While sisters go about searching for the best Rakhis in the market, traders too take utmost care in bringing out the best stock. A trader from Hyderabad, Ganesh, while speaking to ANI said, "We stock Rakhis on the basis of the preferences of the customers, every year the sale of Rakhi is increasing because as people are celebrating Friendship days so this is a booming business too," he said.

He further called it a "booming business".

Meanwhile, another trader, Sridhar explained that since they are noticing a change in people's preference, they have brought in new varieties like Doraemon, Bheem, cars and stones rakhis.

He added, "The variety of Rakhi is being imported from Kolkata and Pune."While it is the brothers who pledge to protect and care for their sisters in their ups and downs, it's the sisters who put in all the efforts to get the best Rakhi for their 'partner-in-crimes'.

A customer Akhila shared that this year is special for she will be celebrating the festival for the first time.

"This is the first time I am celebrating Raksha Bandhan, I Never did it before because I don't have any brothers. This year it is very special because I have got married and my husband's best friend who is been taking care of me like a brother, I want to know the emotions in the bond when you tie a Rakhi to your brother," she detailed.

The day comes as an ode to the wonderful brother-sister bond, and while some are separated by distances, sisters make sure they do send their Rakhis and love to their brothers even when they are abroad.

One such customer Sinduri has her brother living in the US but she is still going around shops to find a suitable one for her brother.

"My brother stays in the United States and I am sending the Rakhi to him, it feels so deserted without him, I have seen the stall which has all the festival vibes and the colourful vibrant," she said.

And while the day is worth celebrating in itself, it's falling on with Independence Day this year has added to the happiness of people in the nation. Markets in Guwahati too are flooded with all sorts of colourful and designer rakhis.

A customer shared her joy over the occasion and said, "Along with Raksha Bandhan, it's Independence Day and even more, Kashmir is ours now. So, this time it is very special."Telling about the most sought Rakhis this year, a trader explained, "Since, Rakhi is coinciding with Independence day this year, the most selling Rakhi is this tricolour one. This serves two purpose- flag and Rakhi." (ANI)
