Bank of America executives decide to cooperate with Merrill investigators

The Bank of America purchase of Merrill Lynch is being investigated.

The Wall Street Journal has reported the move comes after months of the bank trying to hold back documents from New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's office.

The Journal said the new approach could relieve the pressure on the Bank of America and allow it to settle speculation on the Merrill Lynch purchase.

The bank will have to hand over documents including emails and memos between Bank of America and its law firm as well as communication between Merrill and its counsel.
