Samy Vellu's team sweeps Malaysian Indian Congress polls
Pakistan News.Net Saturday 12th September, 2009 (IANS)
Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) chief S. Samy Vellu Saturday retained his hold over the party with his men sweeping organisational polls.
Incumbent deputy president G. Palanivel, who figured on Vellu's 'official' list, retained the post after defeating main challenger, former deputy president S. Subramaniam.
Also defeated was former vice-president S. Sothinathan, a former Vellu protege who had challenged his mentor by entering the poll fray that had generated much heat and controversy.
MIC is the oldest party that speaks for Malaysia's nearly two million ethnic Indian population.
The party began its 63rd general assembly earlier Saturday.
Three ministers, who are MIC nominees in the country's federal government, also won the poll.
Human Resources Minister S. Subramaniam, deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department S.K. Devamany and Federal Territories deputy minister M. Saravanan were elected MIC vice-presidents, Star Online reported.
Vellu's men captured most of the Central Working Committee posts for which 1,464 delegates voted.
President since 1979, Vellu was re-elected unopposed for the 11th time some weeks ago and had announced a list of 27 candidates, most of whom were elected.
The assembly was opened earlier Saturday by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak with top ministers of his government attending it. Email this story to a friend

MIC is no more a voice for Ethnic Tamils nor Indians
Dear Sir, please do away with this delusionary statement that MIC speaks for nearly 2 million Indians. It is a party of self serving Indians who can and do resort any means to hang on to their posts against all democratic principles. With all these moral flaws they can pretend to be voice for Indians and often but will take pains convince the Indian mass that the crumbs thrown by UNMO are great providences.

Funeral day
To the Mr. writter, pls do not say that MIC is representive of 2 million indians, MIC is no longer a voice mode for indian and today it’s proven the funeral day for MIC.
An advise for Subra, Sothi and the team: if you guys are sincere on your statement for the campaign, pls come out the dead party and work for the community.
From today onwards, MIC is no longer Malaysian Indian Congress. It Malaysian Idiots Company and those guys are working for Subra and Sothi but still want to venture your political career with the dead party than sworry to say YOU ARE ANOTHER IDIOT that fighting with the Chief IDIOT.
There are a lot of INdians are waiting to join the right man. We are not interested with niether Indian wing in PKR nor the DAP wing and also the Makkal Sakthi.
Pls do something and see the reformassion that you talk.

Change MIC to Samy Veloo's Party
MIC does not deserve to be called MIC anymore as it does not listen to the voice of Indian’s in Malaysia. Just call it Samy Veloo’s party after this. After all the delegates have spoken by listening to Samy rather than the 2 million Indian’s in Malaysia.

Samy Veloo - the greatest apple-polisher politiciam
It is indeed nauseatic to hear his outburst against Tun Dr. Mahathir. When Tun M was the Premier our Mr. Vello sang praises of the Premier just like what he just did to Tun Abdullah and the current Premier. More so, his disposition then was no better than a 'mouse'. The hipocrisy is at the highest level that mankind has ever known. This is the quality of a man at the helm at the MIC. Tun Abdullah left the premiership following the poor showing of the BN at 2008 general election but still won his Kepala Batas seat. This is a stateman in character and conduct. Despite leading MIC to disaster at the last GE and losing the Sungai Siput seat, he can’t even comprehend the 'writing on the wall'. He should have been magnanimous and left as he is then no longer enjoy the confidence of the electorate. Nothwitstanding, he still feel that no other OTHER person is capable in reviving MIC. This is a sure sign of disaster when the incapable feels others are incapable too. My point is - don’t overstay your welcome. The fact remains he is no longer wanted in this present time. It is a wonder why he fails to embrace this.
